You can pretend to care, but you can't pretend to Show Up.

Join Utah First Lady Abby Cox and Show Up with empathy for the most vulnerable in Utah.

A letter from the first lady

“When Spencer was elected to serve as Utah’s Governor I began to contemplate my new role as First Lady. I looked around the country and our state, and felt compelled to spend my time increasing connectedness and empathy among Utahns – and in particular, among our children.

Through the Show Up initiative, we encourage Utahns everywhere to reach out wherever they are and however they can to lift others, serve, give support and be willing to learn about and appreciate different points of view. We Show Up with empathy and understanding instead of prejudice and animosity. We Show Up with open hearts and willing minds.

We are focusing on four key areas where Utahns can Show Up. The First is educator wellness, helping educators cultivate the skills they will need to thrive in the classroom and in their personal lives. Second, we are partnering with local foster care organizations to care for Utah’s foster kids and the families that support them. Third, through public-private partnerships, we are expanding the incredible Special Olympics Unified Sports program, where children with all abilities participate on sports teams with their peers. Fourth, highlight service organizations throughout the state and provide opportunities for families and individuals to find ways to serve in their community.

Thank you for your willingness to Show Up for Utah.”
